(Copenhagen, DENMARK) – Mikkeller has brewed a another American-style IPA, this time with a more unique hop variety.
Mikkeller Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA
comes in at around 7% ABV, similar to that of Sierra Nevada Torpedo, an “Extra IPA” if you will. The hop is known for imparting a white wine character while Pilsner, Cara-Crystal and Munich malts offer balance. This will be released in a 330 mL bottle and was just ships next week to the States.
As for Mikkeller’s other beers . . .
Mikkeller Simcoe is currently on shelves with Mikkeller Warrior now joining it. Mikkeller Cascade, another single hop beer, has already shipped and should join them soon. Czech Pilsner ships next week and should be in stores next month.
Mikkeller also has another beer posted on his site that he didn’t mention this time though we’ve discussed it in the past. It may have even been released in some markets already. He brewed an 8% ABV Belgian Wild Ale called USAlive! (in 750’s). It appears to be along the lines of his other wild ale releases, It’s Alright! and It’s Alive! The ingredients list includes: “malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (tomahawk, cascade and amarillo)” and of course, Brettanomyces. Mikkel noted that it was heavily hopped but what is light candy?? As far as the Brett: “bruxellensis – used in primary together with orval primary strain.”
Gonna guess that light candy = light candy sugar.
