(Chicago, IL) – Half Acre Beer Co.‘s new Chicago brewery, based in North Center, got its first label approvals this week. Half Acre will release both Baume and Daisy Cutter this spring. Baume will be the first of the two to drop, a beer that is limited considering only fifteen barrels were brewed.
As for beer descriptions, Baume’ “is a Rye Stout that fires off notes of chocolate and coffee and balances hop and malt edges with class.” Daisy Cutter “will lean in more of a west coast aromatic Pale Ale direction with less on the bittering end. We’re packing it full of the dank hops, and we have big hopes for this PA.”
Haven’t heard of the brewery? That may be because Half Acre only started releasing beers in late 2007, only producing 800 barrels last year. Sand Creek Brewing contract-brewed Half Acre Lager and Over Ale ESB at its facility in Wisconsin, according to Decider.com’s November article.
Now Half Acre has a “15 beer-barrel brewhouse, enough to make 465 gallons of the good stuff at a time, from Ska Brewing Company in Durango, Colo,” right in Chicago. The equipment was delivered last October so things are up and running and beer is being brewed. For now, you can go into the brewery and sample a beer or two.
