(Boston, MA) – It is only every other year that they hold the World Beer Cup competition and announce the winners at the Craft Brewer’s Conference. So from a blogger’s perspective, this year’s event may not be as much to write home about…maybe they will be talking about taxes a lot since every state under the sun is trying to cut its deficits with yours and my beer money…

Nevertheless, the beer gods have descended on Boston for one week with the conference kicking off tomorrow. The good news is that even if you are locked out of the event, the fun stuff happens at night, especially with dozens (hundreds?) of brewers in town.

Beer Advocate has done a nice job posting some events on its calendar. The Bostonist also wrote up a blurb on its site late last week. Julio’s Liquors in Westborough, one of the highest-rated stores in the country, is hosting some brewers for tastings this week. Finally, local import kings, The Shelton Brothers have even more events for this week posted up on their site (careful on that link, music plays automatically and yes, I know I posted an auto Dark Lord video a week ago that did the same thing..semi-accident!).

Is there a better place to be than Boston this week? Probably not. It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of this conference that would be news to us beer geeks. Some have already used the #cbc09 hashtag on Twitter and if you are there, I suggest you do the same.
