(Athens, GA) – Terrapin Beer Co. will bring back one of its Side Project Series beers this summer.

Terrapin Gamma Ray

will return as part of the Monster Beer Tour, replacing the old All American Imperial Pilsner.

According to the brewery’s Steve Hayes, “Gamma Ray is set for a June release, and, yeah, we did have a great response on that beer when we released it originally as Side Project Volume # 3 last year. Spike (our brewmaster) will be brewing it here again in the next couple of weeks. As far as availability…Nashville, TN–Atlanta, Athens, and pretty much all of GA, All of SC, NC, and FL as well as Pittsburgh, PA (our newest market). We’ll also try to get it sold in Alabama, but that depends on how successful our friends over at Free The Hops are.” [ed: FTH hopes to have its beer bill voted on next week]

The beer is “brewed with 50% wheat, a handful of Munich malt and 700 lbs of Tupelo and Sourwood honeys from Savannah Bee Company […]” And in terms of beer ratings, Gamma Ray has earned higher scores than the All American Imperial Pilsner at Beer Advocate.

The brewery’s current Side Project Release is #5, Terrapin Monk’s Revenge. More info from Bob Townsend.

Lastly, the brewery celebrates its 7th anniversary next Saturday, April 11.
