Weyerbacher spring beer update

(Easton, PA) – A lot is going on for Weyerbacher Brewing this spring so here is a post to tie together most of those loose ends.

The brewery has released its April seasonal. Per the website: “Blanche is back! That’s right, our famous Belgian-style Wit is available in bottles, growlers and sixtels starting this weekend!” Look for the beer in Weyerbacher’s home state of Pennsylvania along with nearly fifteen others where the brewery distributes its beers.

But that’s not all this April. You may have noticed the Simcoe pic above indicates that it’s 750mL. According to Dan Weyerbacher, “Weyerbacher has decided to make a cork ‘n’ cage version of our Double Simcoe IPA. This will be a special edition, unfiltered and completely bottle conditioned so you can experience this great beer the way our brewers do by sampling right from the tanks. This should be out in April and will be available to all markets.”

Looking ahead toward May, Weyerbacher Muse and Riserva are tentatively scheduled for release. Riserva, the brewery’s first sour, fared well on Beer Advocate earning an A- grade in its debut. “We only had 100 cases of Riserva last year, half of which were sold at the brewery. This year we’re expecting 350-400 cases as long as all of the barrels are good! About 300 or so cases will be shipped out to wholesalers in all areas, when its ready. But, that means some states will only see 20 or 30 cases and some maybe 40 or 50 cases, 12 to a case. We’ll announce on the website when it’s out. We said May in the schedule, but you know how Brett can be unpredictable sometimes, it could vary by a month or two.”

June will bring the return of a second Brewers Select Series beer. Weyerbacher Alpha, a Belgian Pale Ale, will come back as a beer to be named. And speaking of the limited series, the next edition, Weyerbacher Foxtrot, just got approved by the TTB so look for information on that in the future.

A couple more notes: By the time, June and July roll around, it is also possible that Weyerbacher will have expanded distribution into Vermont. And for those wondering about Weyerbacher Blasphemy, the beer has been discontinued due to poor sales.

  1. The re-issue of Alpha has been named. It is called Zotten. I don’t understand the meaning of the name, but it is on the beer sheets at the brewery.
