Beer notes: Sierra Nevada, Highland, Weyerbacher, Capital, Schlafly

capital-wild-rice Sierra Nevada Brewing ships out is second new year-round beer of 2009 today. Kellerweis Hefeweizen should hit stores over the next few weeks.

For the Wisconsin folks, Robin Shepard of the daily page had two new write-ups over the weekend including a full rundown of everything new with the local breweries. Shepard also has a full-scale preview of the new seasonal, Capital Wild Rice.

Weyerbacher Brewing has the full details on the Zotten release coming June 3 posted on its website, including tap locations. The brewery just released Foxtrot and Muse as well.

Highland Brewing has announced it will once again brew its strong Scotch-style ale, Tasgall Ale, for September release.

From Illinois’ Two Brothers Brewing, “Hildegard van Ostaden from Urthel Brewing Company and I have been discussing names for the collaboration brew we did and starting to design the label. It is aging well and we should be able to release it shortly after the 4th of July.”

” […] we just bought our first Foudre. It is a solid oak tank made in France. It is scheduled to arrive the last week of May.”

Schlafly has announced its tap lineup for the month of June. From the website:

Export IPA
This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India.

Weissbier
This Bavarian-style unfiltered wheat ale is light in color and medium bodied with a fruity and clovey aroma and flavor imparted by the German yeast.

Schwarzbier
This black German lager is clean, malty and roasty. Its appearance is deceptive, this is a very drinkable beer.
