(Pleasantville, NY) – Scott Vaccaro of Captain Lawrence Brewing made his first newsletter announcement for a beer release in a while today though not unexpectedly. Both St. Vincent’s Dubbel and Cuvee de Castleton are released at the same time each year. Of the two, CdC is the beer that is more often discussed; after all, it ranks #75 out of nearly 25,000 at RateBeer. The brewery is adding another couple more beers to bottles soon with Captain’s Reserve Imperial IPA and Flaming Fury. Here is the event info from the email:
Captain Lawrence St. Vincent’s Dubbel
This is the fourth vintage of the first beer we ever bottled! A rich malty Belgian style Dubbel, this beer has hints of dark ripe fruit, figs and molasses. Dark brown in color and bursting with rich flavors this beer can take the place of a good red wine at any meal.

Captain Lawrence Cuvee de Castleton
This will be the third vintage of our award winning America sour ale. Aged for over a year in French and American oak with wild yeast and re-fermented in the barrels with whole Muscat grapes, this beer displays the character of fine champagne. Very effervescent and tart, this beer is for the sour beer lover in your family.
Release Date: July 18th, 12:00 pm
Production: 142 cases
Cost: $10 / 375ml bottle – limit of 6 bottles per person – CASH ONLY
We understand that this beer has become very popular is sought after and we will do our best to make sure the release goes as smoothly as possible. We will be using the “deli counter” numbering system like we have done in the past. When you show up to the brewery please take a number. We will sell the beer in the numbered order; one ticket per person gets you 6 bottles if you want them. Disclaimer: just because you got a ticket does not guarantee you will get to buy beer, when the beer runs out that is it until next year!
what will stop people from taking several numbers from the deli machine?
“Of the two, CdC is the beer that is more often discussed…”
Sad but true. St. Vincent’s is a beer worthy of equal adoration but if the lack of it keeps the crowds away…more for the rest of us. As much as I adore CdC…St. Vincent’s is the one beer I look forward to more than any from CL.
Cheers!
