(Denver, CO) – The above label is not for Great Divide Barrel-Aged Hibernation (more info on that below), but rather, the new label for the regular version of Hibernation. The current brown label has been on shelves for a year and is getting a complete overhaul. Besides the obvious improvements made to the appearance, the label now indicates an ABV spike from 8.1% to 8.7% and is taking credit for the silver medal that the beer took at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival.
Also new for Hibernation in 2009 is the limited release of a Barrel-Aged version. According to the Great Divide blog, “Barrel Aged, bottle conditioned beers will be released late September/early October. The Hibernation has already been bottled […] and will remain in the warmth upstairs to finish conditioning until the release. According to cellarman, Austin Wiley, there are only 504 of these bottles. The [Barrel-Aged] Yeti and Old Ruffian are scheduled to be bottled over the next couple of weeks.”
Meanwhile, Great Divide’s latest brews, Hoss and Tripel have recently begun to appear in stores.
That sounds fantastic. Hibernation is one of my favorite winter beers. The depth of malt flavor is tremendous.
So excited for this! I like the updated label a lot, and I’m glad they kept the font the same on ‘Hibernation Ale.’
