(Fort Collins, CO) – Odell Brewing announced briefly in its latest newsletter that it has two new beers coming out. The first beer will be Odell Bourbon Barrel Stout; the tapping party for this beer is at 1pm on Monday, September 7th. The second beer is Brett Barrel Brown Kriek. Speculation is that the former may hit limited distribution The beer will hit distribution in all eight states where Odell is found: CO, NE, MO, KS, WY, AZ, SD and NM at a suggested retail price of $15-$16. There are no details yet as to whether BBBK will be bottled.

According to one of the brewers, as far as the stout goes, “Bottling will start this Friday. This beer will be the first beer released on a new 750 ml (Belgian-style) bottling line with plans to keep many other styles coming. […] We’ll have a few more releases in the works for this year, the first of which coming up soon will be an all-malt, massively hopped India Barely Wine [late Sept.], a Colorado hop harvest beer [early Oct.] and some other treats from virgin wood.”

Label description: “This limited edition offering begins with a full-bodied imperial stout that has notes of sweet milk chocolate, smooth vanilla and roasted coffee beans. Then things get interesting. We transfer it to Kentucky bourbon barrels where it’s aged for four months to let traces of oaks and caramel come forward.” The beer weighs in at 10.5% ABV.

  1. That’s a good point. I didn’t get my hands on the 2nd bottle but the first was pretty good though I regretted not laying it down for several years. Did you get to try either beer?

  2. For anyone not looking to pay as much for the Bourbon Barrel Stout as they did for woodcut you’ll be happy it should be found for around $14.99. As for the Brett Barrel Brown Kriek… It doesn’t exist. But the two exist separately. We have 2 barrels of Kriek that has been aging for two years and a second batch was brewed a while back which is also aging in barrels. That will be available most likely only from the brewery tasting room, as will the Brett Barrel Brown.
