I think most of us here in the U.S. have or will think about or re-live what happened eight years ago today. I found this photo on Flickr taken yesterday which is a fine example of how some are paying tribute. Here’s the photographer’s caption with more info:

“The Firefighter Steven Coakley Foundation is presenting the “Flags of Remembrance” in honor of all those lost on September 11, 2001. Volunteers spent a recent morning arranging 2,997 flags on the lawn of the Palmer Building on East Seventh Street, recently restored by the Charlotte Fire Fighters Association as an reception and special events venue. I spent a little time there this evening taking photos and remembering that no matter our differences, we are all Americans.”
