(Cooperstown, NY) – Brewery Ommegang is set to release a brand-new beer later this fall for the winter season. Ommegang Adoration is a “Belgian-style dark, strong winter beer, brewed with five spices: Coriander, cardamom, mace, sweet orange peel, and grains of paradise.” Though the beer has already appeared on draft in some places, it will debut in 750 mL bottles and 1/6 bbls around mid-October, and should be available through the end of the year.

According to the brewery’s Larry Bennett, “The idea was to do a traditional, Belgian-style winter/Noel/Christmas beer in the US. Few breweries here attempt to make one in the traditional Belgian style.

It’s malty, spicy and dry. It’s 10% abv but has no obvious alcohol burn.”

In other news, Ommegang Rouge is “probably not happening” beginning next year as the relationship with Bockor Brewery in Belgium ends. The brewery is, however, looking into another partnership with Liefmans being a potential option.
