(Portsmouth, NH) – Redhook Brewery brings back its vaunted Treblehook Barleywine Ale for a rare run early next month. According to a brewery rep, Treblehook can be found “at limited establishments” since only 2,500 cases have been produced.
Redhook evaluates the seasonal lineup each year. Despite the buzz surrounding the return of Double Black Stout last fall, the decision to replace it was probably made easier when Treblehook took ‘Gold’ in the Barley Wine category at last year’s Great American Beer Festival. The Barleywine beat 54 other entrants in the category. The last bottled batch was released in early 2008 (see the old label below). This year’s version features a flurry of hops: Chinook, Cascade, Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial. The ABV has also risen from 9.8 to hit 10.1%, easily making this one of Redhook’s biggest beers to date.
The brewery’s website has a locator feature that allows you to search for where Redhook’s beer is available. Whereas the old version was packaged in 6-packs, you will still find this one and others in Redhook Brewery’s Limited Series in the 22 oz. bomber format.
