(Hooksett, NH) – New Hampshire’s newest small craft brewery, White Birch Brewing, will release more Belgian beers in the near-future. On the way soon are Tripel, Wild Ale, and Saison.
According to Bill Herlicka, White Birch Tripel will begin to hit stores later this week. The beer will be a rotating release and for the first batch, he has a couple hundred bottles going out to Bert’s Better Beers, Johnson’s Marketplace and Jasper’s. Rather beastly at 10.5% ABV, Herlicka describes the beer as, “Golden in color, wonderful belgian esters, light fruit notes and a smooth malt body round out the brew flavors. Finish is dry and medium bodied.”
White Birch Saison may hit stores later this week as well. Per the label, “Our Saison is spicy and tart with mild fruit notes and a crisp finish.” Much lighter than the Tripel at 6.3% ABV.
Finally, there is White Birch Wild Ale. Says Herlicka, “The wild ale is a side project of mine that I am bottling for the Beer Advocate Night of the Funk. It’s a belgian golden ale aged on oak chips that were innoculated with two strains of brettanomyces. As a second generation brett beer it matured nicely with light oak, cherry and tart aromas and flavors. I specifically selected two strains of brett to emphasise flavor and aroma with low acidity. It’s 8% and deceptively drinkable. I am saving a few bottles since the event only needs a log and I brewed this as slightly more than a log. Those bottles will be sold at the brewery after the Beer Advocate Belgian Beer Fest in October to try and raise some money for the local food bank. the next version of this wild ale is fermenting away nicely.”
