(Kalamazoo, MI) – Bell’s Brewery just got label approval for the 2008 edition of Bell’s Eccentric Ale, to be released this winter. This year, the label reads, “Malt Beverage brewed with Birch Syrup, Honey, Maple Syrup, Juniper Berry, and Elderflower.”
Past editions:
2007: “Ale brewed with Fruit and Spices with Honey and Maple Syrup”
2006: “Malt beverage with Vegetables, Popcorn, Fruit, Spices, Raisins, Honey, and Malted Milk Balls”
2005: “Ale brewed and Flavored with Natural Flavors”
2004: “Malt Beverage brewed with Natural Flavor with Honey and Maple Syrup”
2003: “Ale brewed with Pumpkin, Squash, Sweet Potatoes and Natural Flavors”
If there is one thing that we have learned, it is that Larry likes to use honey in this beer…
On a side note, a beer buyer is quoting an unnamed rep on Beer Advocate that Bell’s 9000 won’t be available until early 2010. Take it for what it is worth.
Your post suggests that 2003 was the first year for Eccentric. Larry has definitely been making them back at least as far as 1998, possibly farther.
