(Chicago, IL) – I have covered the new Bourbon County Stouts but how about the new Belgian-style beers Goose Island Beer Co. is pushing in 2010 . . .

The brewery looks to be adding three new ones to its line of bottled Belgian-style beers. Two of these will include Brettanomyces according to the brewery’s Greg Hall.

One of those is Goose Island Fleur which will debut in 650 ml’s in May (presumably year-round). This was Fulton Draft #2 (IIRC). “A refreshingly tart and fruity Belgian style ale, resulting from a secondary fermentation with hibiscus flowers and wild yeasts.”

Unfortunately, the other two beers will be really limited. Madame Rose will be released in July in 22 oz. bottles (Chicago and NYC only). The beer made appearances at beer dinners, FOBAB and the 2009 Great Taste of the Midwest. Here is the brief description from the GTMW program: “A sour brown kriek made with Michigan sour cherries aged in oak barrels for over 2 years with a roselare yeast culture.” 6% ABV OG 14 dP.

Lolita will follow it in 22’s in October (again Chicago and NYC). The RateBeer entry says this is a “Belgian-styled tart raspberry beer aged in 6-13 year old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels.” One tidbit from Timeout Chicago: “Lolita was barrel-aged with Schaarbeek cherries, a type of fruit previously unavailable outside Belgium—until Hall asked Seedling Fruit’s Peter Klein to grow 30 of the trees for him.” The brewery also worked with Seedling Fruit on a special version of its Matilda last January.

Goose Island Sofie, first released in 650 ml’s last year, will join Pere Jacques and Matilda in 4-packs this spring. For those on the West Coast wanting to get these beers, there will be a shipment of all three to the West Coast in April, according to Goose Island’s Facebook page.

The brewery will also debut two new Fulton Draft beers in the first half. First up in March is Goose Island Pepe Negro: “A black Belgian style farmhouse ale, brewed with black peppercorns.” 6% ABV. 30 IBU. Then in May we will see Goose Island White City: “An Imperial white ale spiced with coriander, green coriander, crushed roasted fennel seed, rosemary, bitter orange peel and fresh orange zest.” 7.5% ABV. 28 IBU.
