Odell Brewing releases seasonal Red Ale for second year
Fort Collins, Colo. – On January 4th, Odell Brewing will release its Red Ale, a hop heavy American style red ale. Red Ale follows Isolation Ale as part of the brewery’s seasonal series of beers, and like the Rocky Mountain goat on its label, has some serious kick.
“What I like about our Red Ale is the complex balance between the huge hop profile and the malt presence,” said Odell Brewing’s Joe Mohrfeld, who is a contributor to the brewery’s ‘At Home Beer Dinner’ blog. “This beer can pair well with a diverse selection of well prepared dishes, but what it pairs best with is locally sourced goat cheese varieties – Chevre, Bleu, Brie and aged Gouda.”
The Red Ale pours a deep coppery red with a hop aroma of citrus and pine. The aggressive American hops balance the strong malt backbone creating hints of grapefruit and tangerine that meld with the caramel sweetness and give the beer a crisp finish.
Odell Brewing will kick off the release of Red Ale with a tapping celebration at the brewery’s tap room on January 9th from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy live music and samples of the Red Ale, as well as a sharp cheddar soup made with the beer courtesy of Spoons restaurant. Fans of the brew are also encouraged to “get their goat on,” by donning their best goat costumes for a free six pack.
Red Ale is available January through April in the brewery’s eight state distributor region. Six packs retail for approximately $9.49 – $9.99.
Odell Brewing was recently named a “Best Company to Work For” in Colorado and is an award winning brewery, nationally and internationally: 2009 Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival – silver medal for 5 Barrel Pale Ale, bronze medal for 90 Shilling. 2008 North American Beer Awards – gold medal for 5 Barrel Pale Ale. 2008 World Beer Cup® – gold medal for IPA, silver medal for Double Pilsner, silver medal for Cutthroat Porter. 2007 Great American Beer Festival® – gold medal for IPA, silver medal for Easy Street Wheat, bronze medal for Extra Special Red. 2007 Australian International Beer Awards – silver medal for 90 Shilling, silver medal for Cutthroat Porter, silver medal for Easy Street Wheat and bronze medal for 5 Barrel Pale Ale.
