(MO) – Another craft beer leader, Boulevard Brewing, will soon introduce a Maibock into bottles.

Sierra Nevada Brewing did it last month with Glissade Golden Bock. Now it’s Boulevard’s turn. Word around the blogosphere is that Boulevard Boss Tom’s Golden Bock is a twist on the brewery’s draft-only Maibock.

The beer will hit shelves early this spring as a seasonal release. That would seem to clash with the timing of Boulevard Zon though that beer just won a gold medal at GABF so I don’t see the brewery doing anything with it. Seasonals are growing at a rapid pace and it’d be hard to blame Boulevard for adding to its portfolio. The demand is certainly there.

This is unconfirmed but a commenter noted on KC Beer Blog that the brewery is making three 600 barrel batches of the Maibock this year.

So who is Boss Tom? The neck label reads, “From 1925 until 1939, Kansas City was controlled by the powerful political boss Thomas J. Pendergast, whose ‘Goat’ faction feuded with rival ‘Rabbits’ for partisan dominance. The atmosphere of graft and lawlessness fostered a boom in jazz clubs and speakeasies, earning our town the title ‘Paris of the Plains.'”
