Captain Lawrence Birra DeCicco collaboration in the works

(Pleasantville, NY) – Captain Lawrence Brewing has been working on a new beer with local store, DeCicco’s Food Market.

Owner and Head Brewer, Scott Vaccaro, is optimistic that Captain Lawrence Birra DeCicco will be ready for release in early March though it’s not set in stone.

The label describes the beer: “Fermented with our house Belgian-style Ale strain to impart the classic fruity and spicy flavors of a traditional abbey ale. Infused with imported Italian chestnut honey and jam to create rich and smoky undertones. Re-fermented in the bottle using even more Italian chestnut honey to give the beer its lively carbonation.”

“It came about after talking with our friends Joe and Chris at DeCicco’s Market about all the cool stuff they have on the shelf in their stores; not just beer but food as well,” says Vaccaro. “They are one of our biggest supporters in the off premise market and we thought it would be fun to brew a beer incorporating some ingredients from their store, most specifically Italian ingredients, being that our families are all from Italy, and they still have family in Italy.”

A good portion of the estimated 350 cases (750 mL’s) will be sold at DeCicco’s in the NY Metro area though some will be made available at the brewery and even at a few retail stores. A small amount will be kegged as well.

Other notes:

It looks like Captain Lawrence Rosso e Marrone is making a return. The brewery tweeted last week that they bottled a batch that had been in Merlot / Cabernet barrels since May 2007.

The brewery released Golden Delicious over the weekend and there are still a few cases left though it is unclear whether those are on sale at the brewery or are hitting distribution.

  1. Thank the lord this isn’t uber limited and rare requiring local fans to get up at 4AM the day of the release to wait in line unshowered and freezing to death in -15F weather alongside hundreds of other people whose sole purpose in buying their stash is to trade it for otherworldly ransom beers.

    So…thanks Scott!
