(Bloomington, IN) – Ah, more Upland Brewing news! Here is the scoop on the 2010 Upland Lambics.
This year, there will be two separate releases. A limited run brewery-only run will be available next month but those can be pre-ordered/reserved starting in mid-February along with Upland Dantalion. We are pretty close to mid-February so be on the alert for the notice. A much larger run will go into distribution late this summer (or in early fall) though details aren’t yet available on how that release will work.
The late summer run will feature all eight varieties including the new Upland Persimmon Lambic. The others are blasts from the past, last available in fall 2008: Blackberry, Blueberry, Cherry, Kiwi, Peach, Raspberry and Strawberry.
Next month’s run will include only 300 bottles each of Persimmon, Kiwi and Raspberry. There will be a limit of one per bottle (same with Dantalion) and the brewery doesn’t require that you order them as a set. These could sell out given the limited availability.
Here’s some background courtesy of Head Brewer, Caleb Staton: “The decision to do another round of Kiwi was quickly agreed upon, with only 40 bottles completed before our worst accident of all time in 2008. Persimmon is sitting in the cooler ready to go when we get more corks. The persimmons were provided by Aaron Persinger, a local singer/songwriter who is currently the drummer for Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band. (The Rev himself is a certified Persimmon lover I’ve been told, can’t wait to get him a bottle). Being a classic Indiana fruit, we couldn’t resist, maybe one day we’ll find enough local mulberries and bring another (as far as we know) first-ever fruit lambic-style to the lineup.”
The brewery expanded its capacity for making these lambic-style beers last year.
