(Portland, OR) – Hopworks Urban Brewery, an all-organic brewery just turned two years old, now has two upcoming beer releases up its sleeve.

First, the beer pictured above, Hopworks Ace of Spades will be released in bottles on April 13th at Belmont Station. It is a Meet the Brewers event with Ace of Spades and Galactic Imperial Red on draft and per the Oregon Brewers Guild, “Motorhead will be on the stereo all night!” This appears to be a launch event so I imagine that the bottles will trickle out elsewhere soon thereafter.

The brew won the coveted Gold Medal in the Imperial IPA at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, beating out 76 other entries.

The label says, “This hopped out beast had Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial hops, added at every point; mash tun, first wort, kettle, and dry hop. All the green goodness results in a beer with a huge citrus hop aroma, flavor and deep clean bitterness.”

Beer Stats: 9.2% ABV, 21.5 Deg. Plato, 100+ IBU

In other news that broke yesterday, Hopworks is releasing an IPA called Google Gigabit as a pitch for the company to choose Portland as its destination for new high-speed fiber optics lines. The lines are are 1 GB/second which is considerably faster than the 3-15 MB/second connections that most of us are used to . . . The New School blog has the full story.
