[3/2 Update: Please see comments for more info on el Mole Ocho from New Holland rep.]
(Holland, MI) – On the heels of the New Holland Cellar Series announcement, here is more info on what is to come from New Holland Brewing in 2010.
New Holland el Mole Ocho – High Gravity Series – late March
o.g. 19.6P – 8.8% ABV
Label description: “Our exploration into the flavors of mole, the legendary sauce of central Mexico. Malty aroma and rich, cocoa-laden body laced with an invigorating tinge of dried chilies and coffee.”
New Holland Beerhive – High Gravity Series – mid-July
o.g. 20P – 9% ABV
Label description: “Little John’s local bees create a spring wildflower-honey that lends a sweet, earthy complexity to a traditional style of beer (triple) with a balancing snap of ginger in the finish.”
New Holland Hopivore, a Michigan wet-hopped harvest ale will debut in 6 packs in mid-October. Coming in 12 oz. bottles will also be Imperial Hatter and Dragon’s Milk.
Draught-only limited beers to be released this year: Black Tulip (on tap last month – formerly of High Gravity Series), Oak-Aged Mad Hatter, Black Mad Hatter and Rye Mad Hatter.
The brewery has not yet received label approval for Existential Ale or Pilgrim’s Dole (currently listed under the High Gravity Series on the New Holland website), so it’s unclear as to whether those are coming back this year.
Here’s an extra nugget of info for you. The clay pot featured on the label of el Mole Ocho is a first century artifact from the region of Holland, Michigan’s sister city, Queretaro, Mexico. This artifact is proudly owned by New Holland Brewing Company.
The honeycomb featured in the background of the Beerhive label is an original honeycomb pulled from the hive of New Holland’s own brewer / beekeeper / beer-lab technician (aka mad scientist), John Stewart.
Enjoy. Appreciation for the recognition.
Much thanks.
