(St. Louis, MO) – Schlafly Helles-style Summer Lager is headed to cans beginning around mid-May.
At least that is the plan according to Saint Louis Brewery COO, Dan Kopman. The beers will be introduced in cans in addition to bottles in St. Louis Metro, Central Illinois and Central Missouri. There are no plans to can any other Schlafly beers at this time though the brewery is working on a “Can Growler” for folks to be able to get growler fills of any Schlafly beers. Is this a special type of growler? Regardless, increasing take-home beer options is a good thing.
Other Schlafly happenings per Kopman:
“Our American IPA (AIPA) will be released as part of our Special Release Series from May to August.
In production, we are focused on the final installation of all the equipment we have purchased over the past few years to bring our capacity up to 50K bbls. We are focused on the quality improvements that this will provide.
On the sales side, we are focused on our core market, StL Metro. We continue to make steady progress in those cities/states where we started a few years ago – KS, IN, TN, KY. We are thinking about a few new markets but with our capacity constraints we have to be patient and see what happens in StL.
Our design team is working on a new website/web/video/social media projects, new packaging for the Helles Lager cans and the AIPA.
Towards the summer we will start working on plans for the start of our 20th year this December. In the restaurants at Schlafly Bottleworks and The Schlafly Tap Room we have some construction work on-going – the never ending work to maintain the buildings and improve the experience for our customers.
In short, this is a year to bring to a completion so many projects that we have been planning for some time to allow the Company to sustainably move forward in the future.”
