(Portland, OR) – It’s not quite spring yet but many breweries will start introducing summer ales beginning in April. Widmer Brothers is no exception and will launch its new summer seasonal, Widmer Brothers Sunburn, next month.
Commercial description: “Inspired by the long and hopefully hot days of summer fun, Sunburn is a refreshing tribute to the Brothers Widmer and their unending dedication to making beer people love as much as they do. This radiant golden ale is the perfect protection factor as the mercury climbs. The light caramel body and Citra dry hopping provide a balanced and flavorful beer that’s sure to refresh any summer afternoon.”
Expect to find this on shelves in 6-packs and on draft beginning around mid-April with supplies lasting through the end of July.

What is Widmer thinking? Sunburn is a horrible name for a “refreshing” beer. The negative conontation and memories of sunburns will make people avoid this “annoying burn on my arm” ale.
