Otter Creek gets another label revamp

(Middlebury, VT) – Otter Creek Brewing‘s new image concept that I unveiled last fall has apparently been scrapped.

The brewery was very excited about re-inventing itself with a new look last fall, a theme that featured a minimalistic, natural feel to it.

News came out around the same time that Long Trail Brewing was going to buy Otter Creek but that they were still going to move forward with the re-branding. Over the winter, they delayed launching those new labels and it now appears that they will never hit the streets.

The brewery has still opted to go with some new labels though these are more traditional in their appearance and borrow themes from Long Trail’s labels. Look for them on shelves this year.

  1. I think that the new change is kind of a shame – I really liked the labels you posted last fall. I understand the logic in borrowing from Long Trail, but I thought the earlier redesign was more clever and more unique.

  2. See, I disagree with the two of you. While I liked the clean look of the scrapped new labels from last year, I thought that in the end they were a bit too generic and lost that New England feel.

These keep with the tradition and feel of the old branding but still clean things up a bit. Not perfect, but a job well done in my opinion.

  3. The new labels made me barf.

It’s sad because it could have been so much better than it is.

It’s difficult to stand out in such a competitive market, and these labels just took OC two steps backwards.
