A bunch of new labels to get through so let’s not waste any time…
First up is Schlafly A IPA. This beer will come out in June. At 8% ABV, this looks like it is tipping the scales in the Double IPA direction. According to the Beer Advocate event page for The Wine and Cheese Place, “Schlafly is going to bring a trial batch of their new American IPA (7% ABV). The bottled version will be released in June and will come in at 8%.” So you will be able to try a variation of this beer this Saturday, almost two months early. BJCP style guidelines would call this trial beer an American IPA but would call the bottled version a Double IPA because it trips the 7.5% threshold.
Surprise, surprise! Port Brewing is releasing another Double IPA as its Anniversary Ale this year. Look for this to hit shelves in early-mid May. The fourth anniversary party is scheduled for May 8th. And while we are at it, don’t forget about the Lost Abbey Veritas 007 / Framboise di Amorosa release event on April 17th. More info here.
A new package for Brau Brothers Pilz just got label approval last week. Not sure yet whether this has already been available on shelves. Note that this is the brewery’s existing Czech Pilsner and not a new beer, just a new label.
Sometimes info surfaces on these Sierra Nevada draft beers and sometimes they don’t. Nothing has surfaced yet on Sierra Nevada Nautilus Pilsner. Approval came through last week so the brewery/distributor may still be taking orders.
Finally, there is New Belgium Shadow of the Foeder. This appeared on draft a couple weeks ago in a few spots but no one has published a review online yet. It is a blend of 2/3 1554 Enlightened Black Ale and 1/3 La Folie.
