(Baltimore, MD) – Beer #2 is coming this summer from Stillwater Artisanal Ales.

According to Founder/Brewer, Brian Strumke, “‘of Love and Regret‘ is a saison brewed in a small brewery in Beerzel, Belgium with an array of spring botanicals and grassy hops to celebrate the season. It should hit the US market with limited distribution around mid-June. More info to come.”

This would be Strumke’s second saison, the first being Stillwater Stateside Saison. It has drawn favorable reviews at RateBeer though the first batch was only 30 bbl so there isn’t a lot to go around.

Stats:
Brewed at ‘t Hofbrouwerijke in Beerzel, Belgium
330 ML bottles, 7.2% ABV
Imported by 12 Percent LLC of Brooklyn, NY

Strumke revealed more about what is coming up on the East Coast Beer podcast:

In May, Strumke is visiting Belgium to brew Stillwater Import Series #2, A Saison Darkly. It is a dark saison brewed with hibiscus and rose hips that give it a tart, floral quality with roasted malts giving it the dark color.

Stillwater will probably release a Wheat-based Saison as the summer seasonal, a Hoppy German Ale this fall and an India Dark Ale next winter.

Stillwater also just bought 12 French oak wine barrels for wild yeast fermentation. He will be throwing some Stateside Saison in them and perhaps some other beers for experimentation with brettanomyces.

Stateside Saison will be available in New York very soon and just arrived in Philadelphia.
