(Placentia, CA) – Two brews will soon hit bottles for the first time but there will likely only be enough for Reserve Society members.
Here is the scoop from The Bruery‘s Patrick Rue on Beer Advocate:
“We’re expecting to release Melange No. 3 and 100% Barrel Aged Coton at the same time. Allocations will be available early next week and both will be released around late May.
Melange No. 3 is already bottled and 100% Barrel Aged Coton will be bottled the middle of this month. Packaging as usual is delaying the release. As very small releases (approximately 83 cases each), we anticipate the Reserve Society will take up almost all of these releases.
Unfortunately there’s just going to be Bourbon Coton this year. The brandy version was put into the barrels too late, so expect to see 100% Brandy Leather next year and perhaps we’ll get lucky with some rye barrels for next year as well.”
For more info on the base beer used for Coton, I’ll turn you over to my post on The Bruery Papier from last year.
Here’s an excerpt: “Each year the recipe will be the same and we’re holding back a certain percentage to blend into future batches. We’re loosely following the solera method of aging / blending to contribute complexity and tie our current anniversary with past ones.”
For more on the solera method, check out this interview with Will Meyers of Cambridge Brewing Co.
That Melange no. 3 is great!
