As Philly Beer Week nears, here are more beer labels from Bell’s Brewery, Victory Brewing and Stegmaier Brewing . . .

First off, what do these two beers, Bell’s Kal-Haven Rye and Bell’s Golden Funk, have to do with Pennsylvania? According to Laura Bell, “We are pouring these two beers for an event during Philly Beer Week and had to register them with the state. There are no plans to bottle or release them outside of Kalamazoo or special events.” Bell’s Smoked Lager got approval the next day so you might see this one at Philly Beer Week as well. There is an event with 30+ smoked beers at Yards Brewing on June 6th so that is a possible destination. The brew has been available on tap in Kalamazoo as of last month.

Victory Brewing will release a new beer called Fists of Feury for Philly Beer Week. The brew is a collaborative effort with Chef Terence Feury of Fork Restaurant and his brother Patrick Feury, Chef of Nectar in Berwyn.

Per the Fork website, “The beer is in honor of the two chefs’ father (and Ellen’s 6th grade elementary teacher) who has been an inspiration for both Terence and Patrick. The process of developing the beer began with Terence and Patrick home brewing their recipe.”

Victory Fists of Feury will be released at a Fork Restaurant beer dinner on June 8th and then at a Nectar beer dinner on June 13th. The total output was 60 kegs with some also being made available at Victory Brewing.

Here are some brewday pics on Facebook. In one of the photos, there are some notes on the board in the back that mention “lager fermentation” and “IPA.” The brewers are also shown prepping some rosemary. Apparently, Bill Covaleski learned a thing or two about the ingredient after using it for Saison du BUFF.

Finally, another new beer coming from The Lion Brewery under its Stegmaier Brewing line. Stegmaier IPA and Pale Ale are now available as part of a mixed 12-pack. Now, Stegmaier Summer Stock Pils will be released in bottles. My Beer Buzz has the scoop: “Summer Stock is the Lion’s take on a traditional Northern German pilsner. It uses 100% Cargill German Pils malt and Perle hops, with Ahtanum added for a subtle, refreshing lemongrass finish. The beer finished out at about 5% ABV and 25 IBUs. For this initial re-release it’ll be available in its’ own cases and six-packs as well as on draft.”

Like Breaker Brewing, a couple guys from The Lion Brewery went on Chip the Beer Guy’s radio show (<- mp3) earlier this month.
