East End Illustration Ale labels approved

(Pittsburgh, PA) – East End Brewing has received federal approval for five of six labels to appear on upcoming bottles of Illustration Ale.

The artists so far are: Jim Rugg, Pat Lewis, George Schill, Dave Klug and David Coulson. I will update with #6 as soon as I have it. Until then, here is some info on the collection which is scheduled for release in early June:

“Six local artists have conspired with this local brewery to bring you Illustration Ale, a limited edition, 700 bottle run of a one-time East End brew. Each bottle bears handiwork of one of the six different artists who contributed to this project, and two bucks from the sale of each bottle will go directly to Pittsburgh’s very own Toonseum!

Illustration Ale is a bottle conditioned beer, with a rich dark malt character, spicy and nuanced, but without any actual spices added. That all comes from careful handling of our Farmhouse ale yeast. If you decide not to frame this bottle, you can carefully remove the label and return it to the brewery to collect your deposit. Or better still, bring it back and put it toward your next liquid art purchase.

Thanks for supporting the Toonseum and East End Brewing.”
