(Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer Co. will release a new Mutiny Fleet Series beer in June.

Ahh, that Deep Purple song that some of us learned how to play on the guitar back in 7th grade or thereabout . . . well, Heavy Seas is paying tribute with a new brew called of the same name, “Smoke on the Water.”

AllMusic’s Greg Plato writes, “It’s near impossible to mention Deep Purple’s 1972 classic “Smoke on the Water” and not immediately think of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore’s trademark guitar riff. Just about every guitarist in the world past and present has at some point plucked Blackmore’s world-famous chromatic riff, which turned out to be the band’s best-selling and most enduring single of their career.”

Smoke on the Water is slated for June release in both 22 oz. bottles and limited draft. This is described by the brewery as “a rich and complex porter. The subtle smokey flavor comes from the use of smoked malt. Try it with anything that’s been cooked on a grill or smoker to compliment the flavor.” 8% ABV.
