(Munich, GERMANY) – Paulaner brings an Oktoberfest beer to the U.S. for the first time.

Paulaner Wiesn has previously been available at the Paulaner Oktoberfest tent though the WV Gazette reports that the beer will be available for the first time in the U.S. beginning this July (through October).

A debate has raged on Beer Advocate as to whether this an actual first-timer though the label seems to indicate just that. Here is a larger image.

The label reads, “The long tradition of the Munich Octoberfest began in 1810 on the occasion of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig von Bayern and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, to which the Munich population was also invited. Munich residents lovingly call the area on which the world’s largest folk festival has traditionally taken place since then the ‘Wiesn’ (meadow).

This year, to herald the 200-year anniversary, we are bringing the Octoberfest feeling exclusively into your home. Celebrate with us and enjoy our limited edition by drinking a ‘Wiesn Bier’ specialty out of an original ‘Wiesn’ beer mug.

Paulaner Wiesn Bier is still brewed today strictly according to the Bavarian beer purity law of 1516 only from the best natural ingredients. It has the character of a typically light bottom-fermented festival beer – a deep golden yellow, with a balanced harmonious taste and the pleasant fragrance of hops. Full-bodied, wonderfully light and sweet Wiesn Bier enjoyment”

[Note: do not visit the PaulanerUSA.com site on the label – as of right now, it’s a parked site that pops up a virus in my browser.]
