(Escondido, CA) – European cities now have just under two months to pledge their allegiance to Arrogance.
A couple months back, Stone Brewing announced its intentions to make a request for proposal for a second brewery in Europe. Today, the brewery made that document public and it is quite the document. The team in Escondido took what is typically a bore and made it an interesting read. Would you expect anything less?
In the booklet, Stone reveals that it netted nearly $50 million in revenues last year while producing 98,700 barrels. For the first time ever, the brewery became the second largest in California behind the institution known as Sierra Nevada Brewing. In an article published today, The Los Angeles Times quoted Stone CEO, Greg Koch, as saying that Stone Arrogant Bastard is the #1 best-selling single-serve craft beer in America.
Stone outlines its plan at the end of the document, implying that it wants to open a facility that brews roughly 25 to 50,000 hectoliters annually. That translates to a ballpark figure of 30 to 60,000 U.S. barrels. That is mighty ambitious but if there is a brewery that can handle it, it might just be Stone.
The deadline for entry is July 1st and the brewery hopes to make a decision by October.
