(Chicago, IL) – Another label approval comes through for Goose Island Beer Co.
[10/27 Update: Per a GI rep, look for this in early December. Also attached a video about the beer below…]
Fresh off of this week’s post on Goose Island Lolita, Madame Rose has also received label approval for 22 oz. bottles. The beer will land on shelves in New York City and Chicago for a limited time beginning next month. Here is what I found on Madame Rose back in January:
“The beer has made appearances at beer dinners, FOBAB and the 2009 Great Taste of the Midwest [and now the Craft Brewers Conference]. The GTMW program describes the beer as, ‘A sour brown kriek made with Michigan sour cherries aged in oak wine barrels for over two years with a roselare yeast culture.'” 8% ABV. The Schaerbeek cherries are grown specifically for GI by Peter Klein at Seedling Farm per Timeout NY.
On a side note, it is interesting to see the mainstream coverage that Goose Island is getting ranging from The Huffington Post to NBC’s Chicago and New York affiliate sites. Beer bloggers still do it best though. Maggie Hoffman of Serious Eats posted an interview with Goose Island Brewmaster, Greg Hall, a couple weeks back. Madame Rose, among other things, is mentioned.
I had some of that at GTMW, nice to hear it is making it in bottles. The Goose Island tent had lots and lots of great and unique beers that day.
