(Bellaire, MI) – More stuff is coming into bottles this year from Short’s Brewing.
Just approved . . . Short’s Turtle Stout, a Sweet Stout brewed with milk chocolate, pecans and caramel as well as Pistachio Cream Ale, brewed with real pistachios.
Per Shorts’ Scott Newman-Bale, “Pistachio maybe in late summer, Turtle Stout in late November (all subject to change). There is already more approved on there as of today (Imperial Spruce Pilsner (soon), Rich’s RIPA (this month), Bloody Beer (sometime this summer), Nicie Spicie (July).”
On Beer Advocate, he added, “Black Cherry probably in the fall, Publican Porter I am sure at some point.”
Some of those other labels can be found here.
Bloody Beer, according to the label, is a specialty beer fermented with Roma tomatoes and spiced with Tellicherry peppercorns, celery seed, fresh horseradish and dill. It won a silver in the Experimental Beer category at the 2009 GABF.
Another award winner, Black Licorice Lager debuted on shelves last week but to the tune of a very limited 220 cases. That beer beat out 104 other entries in the “Herb and Spice Beer or Chocolate Beer category” at this year’s World Beer Cup to take bronze.
