Beer notes Sierra Nevada: Tumbler, High Sierra FestivALE, Almond Marzen Project

Sierra Nevada Tumbler

(Chico, CA) – A few notes on the Sierra Nevada Brewing front.

Sierra Nevada Tumbler received formal label approval this week. The brewery is replacing its current late summer-early fall seasonal, Anniversary Ale, with Tumbler, an American Brown Ale. Sierra Nevada says it had too much in its portfolio in the way of hoppy ales and is using fresh roasted malt for the new brew.

The High Sierra Music Festival takes place from July 1-4 and Sierra Nevada has brewed High Sierra FestivALE for the event. Per High Sierra’s Facebook page, “High Sierra goes to Sierra Nevada Beer Camp to concoct a delicious, exclusive brew! We’ll be serving High Sierra FestivALE at our 20th Annual Celebration – crisp, less hoppy, with a bit of haze and a slight tinge of citrus. Sure to dance all the way down the throat!” The beer is further described a natural blonde ale and hits 4.8% ABV. The music acts appear to cater to the laid back music / jam band crowd.

Finally, another Beer Camp beer, Almond Marzen Project, got approval this week,. The Beer Chicks are the only ones that have piped up about this one so far as they were brewing participants. “We’ll be able to drink it soon!” they say. 5.7% ABV and brewed with real almonds.
