(Harrisburg, PA) – Troegs Brewing has posted a couple interesting blog updates over the last week.
First, what’s going on this week? The brewery is releasing Scratch 31 for Philly Beer Week. Here is the beer description: “#31 is a classic IPA recipe with generous amounts of Apollo, Cascade, and Citra hops. New to us on this go are the Citra hops which are known for their intense grapefruit aroma and flavor. I think you’ll agree that they definitely do the job on giving that classic American IPA citrus aroma. Look for it on tap or on the bar at Philly Beer Week, June 4-12.”
As far as hops go, Citra is coming up more and more in beer descriptions.
In the video above is a beer that will be coming down the road: Troegs Splinter Blue. John Trogner describes the brew as having a wheat beer base with cherries aged in oak barrels. Brettanomyces, lactobacillus and pediococcus add a funky character to it.
The Splinter Series beers come in limited-release large-format bottles. Bottle-conditioning on these could take a couple months according to Trogner. No release date has been announced. The brewery also received approval for Splinter Black a while ago.
Cannot wait for the Splinter Blue and hope to land a bottle, as I missed out on the Gold. Any details on the black?
Nothin’ on the black yet.
