Allagash Fluxus 2010 set for late July

Allagash-Fluxus-2010

(Portland, ME) – Call this a summer update with a hodge podge of Allagash Brewing updates . . .

Got word from Brewmaster, Jason Perkins, earlier today: Allagash Fluxus 2010 will be released in a couple weeks in both 750’s and on draft. The brewers chose a big stout for this year’s version and bottled it on July 1st. I wrote about Fluxus 2010 here already but below is the brewery’s official description:

“Allagash Fluxus is a beer of continuous change. Brewed differently every year to commemorate our anniversary, this year’s Fluxus is a huge Imperial Chocolate Stout. Weighing in at 10.3% ABV, it is one of the strongest beers that Allagash has ever brewed. The brain child of brewer Doug Klippenstein, this beer utilized a unique brewing process that used wort from a smaller brew, as the “water” for mashing the grain for this brew. Maine-grown barley was used as the base for this grain bill that also included a blend of three roasted malts and oats. Fluxus was appropriately hopped with both US Saaz and Glacier hops. Just before knock out, fifty pounds of Taza roasted Cacao nibs were added to the whirlpool. The result is a thick, sticky stout with tons of both roasted and chocolate flavors, aromas of tobacco and cocoa, and a surprisingly sweet, creamy finish.

As part of our Tribute Series, Allagash proudly donates $1 per bottle sold to the Allagash Pediatric Nurses Scholarship at the Maine Medical Center. This scholarship directly supports the training of nurses in the field of pediatrics.” 10.3% ABV and 1.106 O.G.

In other brewery news, they are releasing Allagash Blonde on tap next week. Another draft-only beer scattered around right now is Allagash Bourbon Barrel Black. No word yet on bottles for this one.

Allagash Interlude is on the schedule to return this month while Hugh Malone comes back next month.

As far as Spontaneous and other things, the brewery is still working away on the barrels. Recent tweets reveal that the brewery added some Montmorency and Balaton Cherries to “2-year old spontaneously fermented beer” last week. Pics here and here.

Nothing to report on Limited 375ml bottlings or Mattina Rossa for now.
