(Boulder, CO) – Avery Brewing has received label approval for the next beer in its Barrel-Aged Series.
[Updated: Release moved to Friday, August 6th from 6PM to 9PM.]
Meet Avery Quinquepartite. Per the brewery’s Facebook page, it plans to bottle this one later in July and release 60 cases from the Avery Tap Room on 8/6. From the label, “Noticing that our private cellar bottle stock of sour ale was fast dwindling, we decided to blend a very small batch from five of our finest barrels to produce this, No. 5 in our Barrel-Aged Series. Brewery release only. 60 cases shared. 27 hoarded.”
This beer consists of: 37% Ale aged in Cabernet Savignon barrels, 25% Ale aged in Chardonnay barrels, 21% Ale aged in Port barrels and 17% Ale aged in Zinfandel barrels. It measures at 9.91% ABV and will be sold in single 12 oz. single bottles.
“Quinquepartite” translates to “divided into or composed of five parts.” It is slightly less saucy than the name, “Dupuceleuse,” chosen for #4 in the set.
LA Weekly reports that #6 and #7 are also scheduled to follow later in 2010.
What is on tap for Avery in July? Lots . . . the brewery plans to roll out cans for the first time very soon including the all-new Avery Joe’s American Pilsner. The Beast Grand Cru also returns this month.
quinquepartite is actually latin, not french.
Good call, no time to confirm but I thought many French words end with -tite or -ite. I’ll make the correction.
they do indeed, and latin doesnt have that ending very regularly either. i had to check myself to make sure. avery seems to switching between french and latin (i.e. sui generis) for their barrel-aged releases (aside from black tot of course).
Hey All- CV here from Avery. The 29th and 30th are looking way too crazy for us here at the brewery (our Anniversary Party–which is a boatload of work in and of itself–is scheduled for Sunday 8/1) so we’ve decided to put the Quinquepartite release off until Friday, August 6th from 6PM to 9PM at our Tap Room and Barrel-Aging Cellars. Sorry for the bad info. posted on our Facebook page. We hope to see you all there! Cheers.
Thanks for the response. I will update the info and send this out.
Anyone ever get any? I’m looking for 2 bottles.
