First off, the video above . . .
. . . was shot during Philly Beer Week. It features Sam Calagione from Dogfish Head and a number of other Mid-Atlantic area brewers who all started around 1996 talking about how they pulled through tough times. It’s pretty wild to think that Calagione was brewing on a 12 gallon ‘system’ when he first started. That’s even smaller than some of today’s modest nanobrewing setups.
. . . Another Three Floyds collaboration – this time with Revolution Brewing: “Wednesday and Thursday we brewed two collaboration stouts with Nick and Andrew from Three Floyds Brewing. Each day we brewed two half-sized batches from a single mash to end up with one strong Russian Imperial Stout and one small stout. It’s called parti-gyle brewing and, other than making for a long day, it’s a nice twist on the ordinary. You kind of get the best of both worlds: a big syrupy brew to knock your socks off and a thirst-quenching session beer that’s more suited to drinking on hot days like we’ve been having.”
The larger brew, Sodom, with a FG of 28 deg. Plato, and Gomorrah, with a FG of 10 deg. Plato, are both slated for release only at the pubs in August.
. . . It looks like Struise is expanding. BeerInvest.eu has been out of Westvleteren for quite some time though it looks like some Cuvée Delphine is coming on August 10th.
. . . The Bruery posted an update on the progress of The Bruery Provisions.
. . . Finally, Epic Brewing‘s (UT) latest newsletter provided some release dates for its beers:
