Lots to run through in this edition . . .
Perhaps Great Lakes Brewing is milking this for all it’s worth but that beer it dedicated to LeBron, “Quitness,” sold out in three hours according to WEWS. Who knew that there was a beer that could possibly outsell Christmas Ale? More coming on Saturday possibly . . .
Here’s an brewery blog update on that Cigar City Marshal Zhukov release on Saturday, July 24th, at 12pm:
“Due to the numerous requests we have had about the Barrel-aged version of Marshal Zhukov’s it will be sold on a first come first serve basis at a strict limit of 2 per customer. $20 per 750ml bottle. The Tasting Room opens at 11 AM and tickets will be given out 1 per person as they arrive. The Barrel Aged version will go on sell promptly at Noon. There are 18 cases (216 bottles). If they do not sell out the first run through of numbers, tickets will be recalled starting from the first number called.
Naturally, the non-barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout will also be on sale. $13 per 750 ML bottle. No bottle limit. Guava Grove bottles will also be available as well as a few brews on draft pulled out of the cellar just for the special occasion.”
A question on Firestone Walker‘s Facebook page led to the revelation that Double Jack will be released in early 2011. The brewery didn’t deny that it would make it’s bottled debut. Lots of buzz about it on BA . . .
Finally, one of the new breweries in Chicago, Revolution Brewing, blogged about what it’s doing with barrels:
“Things are getting interesting in the basement as we fill the joint with wooden barrels. We already have 6 bourbon barrels aging away and now we have 12 wine barrels. A few weeks ago, we brewed a black belgian ale with our wit yeast and yesterday Jim and Matty transferred it into some french oak barrels that we previously full of cabernet sauvignon. We also loaded the barrels up with 400# of sour Michigan cherries from Piedt Farm, a regular at the Logan Square Farmers Market.”
