(Berkel-Enschot, NETHERLANDS) – Koningshoeven Abbey has received label approval for a new brew coming Stateside in 2010.
According to Artisanal Imports’ Eastern Sales Director, Lanny Hoff, 375 ml bottles of La Trappe Oak Aged Quadrupel will be available here in the U.S. by the end of the year. If you happen to live in the Netherlands or visit there, it’s already available for purchase at the monastery.
Per Koningshoeven’s site (rough translation), “In 2009, we started with the maturing of our unique beer Quadrupel in barriques (oak barrels). This beer has now had a year’s time aging for a fantastic and unique flavor to undergo evolution. The amber Quadrupel itself has a warm and well balanced flavor. The beer, with an extra bearing of one year to undergo in wooden barrels, gets an even richer, unique and distinct taste.”

Stopped by the abbey last weekend and tried a bottle of this…really a great take on this beer. The wood adds a nice, mellow edge to it as expected. They also have another beer called “puur” I believe coming out next month; the label has a picture of a hop cone, wanted to try it, but it was only available to the guys working in the brewery apparently.
