(Erie, PA) – Lavery Brewing announced yesterday that its Imperial Red Ale is now available in stores.
From yesterday’s blog post, “Lavery Brewing Co. bottles have officially hit the streets. As far as I’m aware, our bottles are for sale at Calamari’s, Brew Thru, U Pick 6 and 6 Pack Shop West. Hopefully Giant Eagle and Wegmans to come soon (i.e. by the end of summer).”
Per the label, “Long ago, in Northern Ireland, the King of Ulster had no sons to inherit his kingdom. The King proposed a race to his castle; the winner would become the next King. Irish nobiity set off on horse back and in boats towards the Ulster castle. Two princes were in a dead heat, closing in on the castle. Then, our Prince, seeing he was falling behind, cut off his right hand and have heaved it at the castle, leaving a bloody, red handprint and winning the kingship. This Prince was an O’Neill, whose family helped secure a brief period of Irish freedom in the 1640s . . . or so the story goes.
Is it a red IPA or an overly hopped red ale? Either way, our Imperial Red Ale is brewed with Canadian and Brittish malts and a touch of roasted barley to add a slight orange/red hue. Hopped exclusively with citrusy-American hops to around 70 IBUs and fermented with our house yeast strain. The final result is a dry, hoppy red ale that is more than the sum of its parts.” Available in 22’s.
