(Kiln, MS) – Lazy Magnolia Brewing plans to add Jefferson Stout to its bottled lineup beginning this fall.
The beer, one of Lazy Magnolia’s draft staples since its introduction exactly three years ago, received bottle label approval this week. Says Owner and Brewmaster, Leslie Henderson, “This beer started as a winter seasonal and was so popular that we added it to our year-round line-up. It’s a relatively light stout that works well in the southern summer heat.” The brewery staff is currently putting finishing touches on 6-pack holder designs and this is expected to debut in 6-packs this autumn.
Here’s the official beer description via the website: “Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia’s original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia’s version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.” Beer stats can be found here.
A special edition of this is going on tap next weekend. Courtesy of an MS Brew email, “Lazy Magnolia has donated a firkin of a cask-conditioned Jefferson Stout to Raise Your Pints. This once in a lifetime ale is called ‘Stoutgasm’ and is a Sweet Potato Cream Stout flavored with molasses, vanilla bean and cinnamon. We’ll be tapping it Friday, July 16, 2010 at The Bulldog in Jackson, MS at 7:00 PM (in the Social Room). There will also be a chance to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming Top of the Hops Beer Festival in Jackson on July 31, 2010 (must be present to win).”
