(Munster, IN) – Three Floyds Brewing announced its third collaboration with Mikkeller on the brewery’s blog this afternoon.
[8/3 Update: Per the brewery blog, “Ruggoop, our third collaboration beer with Mikkeller is getting bottled today. Ruggoop is a Rye Wine clocking in at 9.5% a.b.v. Bottles for sale in the pub later today. We will tap a keg of it Thursday and a keg of Owd Engwish Bawley Whine Friday each week until they are gone. Additionally, Sand Pebbles, an American Brown Ale we made will be going on later today. And if you come by you might also find another surprise on tap.”]
Beerticker.dk reported in April that Mikkel traveled to Chicago for the Craft Brewers Conference. While in the U.S., took a detour to Munster to make another collaboration brew with Three Floyds. This one will be called Ruggoop and is a 10% ABV “Rye Wine.”
It follows the pattern of the other collaborations thus far in both style and naming convention. Hvedegoop was a hoppy wheatwine and was the first collaboration. Then came Oatgoop (or Havregoop in Denmark) as the second collaboration. That beer was a wheatwine brewed with oats. The project also follows a pattern with Mikkeller in brewing the same style and experimenting with different ingredients (see: Single Hops Series and Yeast Series).
As with Three Floyds’ other new works, details are scarce at the moment but watch this space for more in the future.
