(Frederick, MD) – Flying Dog Brewery is bringing out the dogs.
Wild Dogs that is. The brewery released a batch of Wild Dog Barrel-Aged Gonzo Imperial Porter in 750s earlier this summer and reported on its blog today that another batch is getting bottled. Per the post, the brewery is apparently aging these in Stranahan’s Whiskey barrels for an additional three months (six total) over what’s listed on the label. They bottle condition these for at least three weeks so this batch probably won’t make onto store shelves until September.
The brewery should also be releasing 12 oz. bottles from this batch. According to a Flying Dog distribution rep, they will only be sold in singles.
Barrel-Aged Gonzo Imperial Porter debuted in 2007 and has earned plenty of accolades in the beer community since its initial release. It currently sports a 99 rating on RateBeer which places it second among all Flying Dog beers, only behind the regular version of Gonzo Imperial Porter.
