(Milwaukee, WI) – Just like that creepy Poltergeist scene 28 years ago . . . “Theeey’re here.”
This is a developing story and may not mean much for the time being but it signifies that MillerCoors is placing more focus on its craft segment. Here are some of tidbits out there about the new company . . .
The Journal Sentinel broke the news a few hours ago:
“MillerCoors LLC announced Thursday a new name for the company’s craft and import beer division: Tenth and Blake Beer Co.
The name refers to the company’s Milwaukee brewery, at 1515 N. 10th St., where the Leinenkugel’s craft beers are made, and to Denver’s Blake St., home to MillerCoors’ Blue Moon Brewing Co. at the Sandlot.”
BusinessWeek adds:
“The company will be connected to MillerCoors but operate independently. It will run its own marketing and have a separate sales organization, although other aspects including legal, communications and human resources will overlap with MillerCoors, which is based in Chicago.”
According to the new Facebook page, launched just hours ago:
“Tenth and Blake is building the beer drinker’s beer company! We’re made up of passionate brewers and merchants of the world’s finest specialty brews, celebrating the joy of beer with our customers and consumers.
Our current roster of beers includes: Blue Moon, Leinenkugel’s, Pilsner Urquell, Peroni, Killian’s, Henry Weinhard’s, Grolsch, Tyskie, Lech, Cristal, Cusquena, Aguila, Batch 19, Kasteel Cru, AC Golden brands (Herman Joseph’s, Winterfest, Colorado Native) and Sandlot brands (Brewmaster’s Special, Ski Brews, Barmen, Championship Amber Ale, Right Field Red, Slugger Stout, Power Alley ESB).”
The implication? Per BusinessWeek, “CEO and President, Tom Cardella, said the company hopes to expand its craft beer and imports businesses.”
Stay tuned.
