Another Anti-LeBron beer to hit the market

WITLESS LABEL 2010

(Cleveland, OH) – Great Lakes Brewing did it first but Buckeye Brewing will soon join them.

When LeBron made a mockery of his relationship with the city of Cleveland as he announced the breakup on live television, the city revolted with some even going to the extent of burning jerseys. The giant Witness poster was also immediately taken down.

Great Lakes Brewing joined in on the fun soon thereafter, paying its own tribute to the basketball superstar by releasing a beer on tap called Quitness, a riff on Nike’s “Witness” campaign. News of the beer’s release even made headlines on major sports sites like ESPN when it sold out as quickly as the bartenders could serve it.

With the NBA preseason less than two weeks away, another brewery is poised to join in on the LeBron bashing. This time it’s Buckeye Brewing and Cleveland fans will even be able to imbibe to LeBron hatred right from the bottle. Bottle release details for Witless are not yet available though the beer will be appearing at a beer dinner on October 16th so sometime next month or in November seems pretty likely.

Per the label, “This sudsy tribute was brewed to celebrate the fierce pride and loyalty we have for our fair city. Made by Cleveland’s own Buckeye Brewing Company, this ultra-refreshing Belgian ‘Witbier’ style will become your chosen one when you want to defeat thirst. With citrusy crispness and honest flavors that will not quit, this classy brew will not abandon your taste buds. Make the right decision to get some of this proud hometown treat before it’s gone!” 5.3% ABV and available in 22 oz. bottles.
