Beer Notes New England: Kate the Great, Imperial Pumpkin Stout, Smuttynose

Fisherman-IMP-PUMPKIN

Lots to report so let’s get right to it…

Cape Ann Brewing has just released Fisherman’s Imperial Pumpkin Stout in 22 oz. bottles. This is different from the brewery’s standard version. Oddly, the news was left off of this week’s newsletter. Fisherman’s Homeport Honey Ale made with all local ingredients is now available as well.

…From Portsmouth Brewery‘s Facebook page on 9/19, “Even before the dust settled on this year’s Kate Day, we started getting inquiries from folks who wanted to know when next year’s Kate Day is scheduled to take place. Here, finally, is the date we’ve selected for the release of Kate the Great Russian Imperial Stout: Monday, March 7, 2011.

There will be some significant changes to the way we manage the sale of bottled Kate, and we’ll release details about that in a few weeks.” It was also revealed today that there would be no calendar pages at this year’s release. Stay tuned.

Smuttynose Brewing says that its Utopias-aged Robust Porter is just about ready.

Sea Dog Brewing plans to open up a brewpub in Woburn, MA.

…Finally, if you’re anywhere near Vermont on Saturday, check out the Hill Farmstead Brewery beer release event.
