(Walsall, UNITED KINGDOM) – The future of Walsall’s historic Highgate Brewery is now looking much brighter. Ian Robinson, spokesperson for the sites landlord Empire Star Ltd, has confirmed that they have agreed terms with a local consortium to take over the Sandymount Road Site, and contracts are currently being drawn up to finalize the deal.

Mr Robinson commented, “At this stage the consortium do not want to reveal their identity, however we can reveal that they have already applied for a license to brew on the site, and their aim is to establish a working craft micro-brewery and museum”

Empire Star Ltd are not only the owners of the brewery site, but also of the famous Highgate and Davenports beer brands, Mr Robinson went on to say “We are hopeful that the new occupants will make a complete success of the business, and we are showing our own commitment to them by giving them the license to brew the Highgate [and Davenport] beer brands.”

Current tenants occupying offices at the Sandymount Road site are in the process of vacating, and it is hoped that brewing will recommence early in October.
