(Santa Rosa, CA) – Guess what’s coming soon from Russian River Brewing…
[9/14 Update: See below]
According to Vinnie Cilurzo, “We’ll release the Redemption in two or three weeks. They are in the 375ml bottle and we will have them at our brewpub as well as distributed in NorCal.” This is the first batch to be released since last summer according to the website’s bottle log. [ed. note: Thanks to Nick for the heads-up!]
Beer Description: “Redemption is the younger sister to our award-winning ale, Damnation. Fashioned after a Belgian-style “single,” this ale is rarely brewed in America, let alone Belgium. Typically, “singles” are brewed only at the Trappist Monasteries for the monks to enjoy with meals. They often drink only half a bottle with lunch and the rest with supper, despite the beer’s low alcohol content. Redemption is modest in strength, robed in warm golden hues, and soft on the palate with a smooth dry finish.” 5.0% ABV / 1.048 O.G / 23 IBUs.
Also listed on the website as coming soon on tap are Gaffner’s Bitter and Procrastination (never heard of the first one, hint on the second – a long-running brewery joke). In addition, a label came through last week for Sour Pumpkin (this does not guarantee that the beer will be released but stay tuned Updated: Vinnie says this beer is for the annual Elysian Pumpkinfest coming later this fall).
Updated: Finally, there have been some questions about the Cilurzos’ involvement with the Eataly Birreria project that was announced earlier this year. The official word from a source close to the project is that they made the difficult decision to focus on Russian River and are no longer a part of it. All parties involved respect and appreciate the decision.
Yeah, “Procrastination.” That’s been a long running joke at RR for years.
Heh, I think I remember that now…
